Living an Entrepreneurial Life (not just for entrepreneurs!)
A discussion with Candy Brush, Professor of Entrepreneurship, Babson College; Patti Greene, Provost, Babson College; and Myra Hart, Professor of Entrepreneurship, Harvard Business School. Can applying an entrepreneurial framework help us make more effective personal and business decisions? How do you identify and select opportunities, determine what resources are needed and how you will get them? And how do you lead to implement your decisions? In a lively, interactive session, our panel discussed what they've learned through their research, through teaching, and through living their own "entrepreneurial lives."
Let's Get On Board!!
A stimulating and informative opportunity to learn more details about corporate board service and to strengthen your board service toolkit! Mike Jeans, Managing Director of New Directions, Inc. and head of their executive board preparation program, discussed several aspects of preparing yourself for board service, specifically how to create and articulate a compelling value proposition that is uniquely yours. He also spoke about how to mount an effective and active campaign to help position yourself for consideration. Tom Robinson, an executive recruiter with Spencer Stuart, shared his distinctly important perspective as both a sitting board member and as a recruiter whose practice is 50% board searches. He serves on the board of 2 companies both under $100M, one public and one going public. And Sally Crawford, CEO of Crawford Associates International and a member of The Boston Club, who sits on the boards of three companies, where she serves on the nominating committee and chairs the compensation committee, discussed the workings of a board and the interplay between the board and the CEO. She provided detailed insight into the concerns, expectations and requirements that are addressed by boards of directors and CEO's as they search and select new directors.
