Corporate Board
Preparation & Placement
The Boston Club is committed to accelerating progress toward gender parity on corporate, private company, and nonprofit boards. Building on our decades as a groundbreaking and driving force in preparing and placing women on boards in the Boston area and beyond, we:
- Offer top-tier board preparation and placement programs, delivering education and mentoring to guide TBC members in positioning themselves for success in the highly competitive landscape for board seats — and to excel once in these highly sought after positions
- Partner with nationally recognized training and placement organizations, such as National Association of Corporate Directors – New England, as well as with national board placement networks, like The Leaderboard, 30% Coalition, and others, often benefitting from free or discounted rates for TBC members.
- Bring more than two decades of leadership and advocacy for gender parity on corporate boards and executive C-suites, most notably through our annual Census of Women Directors and Executive Officers of the Top 100 Massachusetts Public Companies. In partnership with Bentley University, we examine annual trends in board composition and executive leadership to monitor progress toward more diverse representation.

Mentoring at The Boston Club
We all need space to explore what truly matters to us—whether it’s reaching for a new goal, navigating a transition, or sharing our hard-earned wisdom. At The Boston Club, we believe that women helping women changes lives. Our mentoring programs are built on that ethos: experienced members giving back as mentors to members looking for support and guidance on specific goals. Our programs include 1:1 Peer Mentoring, Mentorship Circles, and Office Hours.
A cornerstone of The Boston Club, the Peer Mentoring Program runs from October through May and fosters meaningful, one-on-one monthly conversations between mentors and mentees focused on a specific goal. Participants build deep, lasting connections with fellow members while exploring topics that matter most to them - whether it's navigating career transitions, understanding the entrepreneurial journey or balancing professional goals with family responsibilities. The application for this members-only program opens each August. Applications are closed for the 2025-2026 program.
Mentorship Circles, launched this fall, offer small-group discussions around a common theme such as managing transitions and leading in turbulent times. Guided by experienced facilitators who keep discussions on track, foster inclusive and active participation, share relevant resources, and help the group identify key takeaways and areas of focus for future sessions. The application for this members-only program opens in August, and the program runs through the spring. Applications are closed for the 2025-2026 program.
For one-time support on a specific topic, members can also take advantage of our Office Hours, held periodically throughout the year, which offer members the opportunity to receive 1:1 mentoring from a TBC member with expertise in a specific topic like leadership, legal strategy, funding, career transitions, and more.

Civic Engagement Initiative
Our system of government is intended to be “By the People.” It’s a right and a responsibility, and everyone can make a difference in some way. Civic engagement means actively participating with others to improve the quality of life in your community. This can be at all levels, from local to state to national and beyond.
The Boston Club recently launched its Civic Engagement Initiative to encourage more women to engage in government and community leadership. We will offer a series of educational workshops that will foster learning and dialogue with civic leaders. To start, members of the Civic Engagement Committee created this resource to help you forge your own pathway to making a difference in your community.
